Name: Caspia
Gender: Female
Birthday: April 28, 2018
Caspia is a very sweet older lady who was found living outside in someone's boat over the winter. She has been on her own for a long time, as evidenced by how thin she was and by the missing fur on her back from years of squeezing into small spaces for shelter. That fur will never grow back.
We trapped her as part of a TNR effort, but she was so happy to see people, she started purring and crying. I took her out of the trap for evaluation and the first thing she did was headbutt my hand. Not feral.
When I brought her into her foster home, she saw the bed and immediately jumped up and curled in for a nap. Obviously, she understands how to be a house cat, and she's a really good one. Since coming into her foster home, she has always used her litter box and never scratched inappropriately. Cass, as she's affectionately called, does not deserve to be living her golden years outside in a boat, struggling to keep warm and find food. She's put on a significant amount of weight since coming into our care. She looks much healthier now.
We do believe she has some arthritis, since she's slow to get up and down on the bed. It might be nice to have some of those pet steps for her in her new home so she can get up and down easier.
Cass is a sophisticated older lady and does not tolerate the antics of the younger cats in the home. She would get along well with another older cat or dog who will give her space. No kittens, puppies, or young children. A quiet, adult only home would be perfect for her. She would love to spend time with her people and get all the pets and love. She doesn't need much, and she'll be the sweetest cat you'll ever meet.
